4 Truths About Your Relationship Staring You Right In The Face
As you are probably aware as a fully awake citizen of the 21st century, Google's Auto-Fill predicts what you might want even before you type it. Google accumulates data from billions of past searches to inform the prediction for your current search.
I typed "why he doesn't l" and "why she doesn't l" into Google (yes, that's an "L" at the end) and stopped at that point, letting Google fill in the rest. The results expose truths about love, sex and relationships that many of us would rather not confront.
Keep in mind that 1.) These searches are applicable to 2 people who already have some type of relationship or contact (for the purposes of this article, we will say that it is a man and a woman), 2.) These searches are fear-driven and anxiety-propelled; none are on the order of "How to make my already-wonderful relationship ever more wonderfuler."
1. Both Sexes Experience Unrequited Love
At the base of everything is the simple, heart-thudding search, "Why he/she doesn't love me." Both men and women share this. Both genders share the searing pain of loving someone from afar and having the other person not return that love. And by "afar," it could be as close as the 4 inches between the man and woman in bed.
2.) Men Are Content To Go On Cheating
We see this from the women's searches for "Why he doesn't leave his wife." Men who are having affairs can be quite content to have both the cozy suburban house with the plump, matronly wife and the hot woman greasing his knob at the cheap motel. Why? Because.
Not a single man ever searches for "Why she doesn't leave her husband." The only thing that comes up is "Why she doesn't leave the colony," which has something to do with ants, bees, or Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter.
3.) Women Are More Affectionate Than Men
"Why he doesn't like to kiss"? Don't we already know that women tend to be more affectionate than men?
Nothing of this sort comes up for men's searches. "Why she doesn't like to" only shows "why she doesn't like to show her face," about a fame-whore named Sia who performs a song called "Chandelier" with her face covered up which, due to the Streisand Effect, means she is only attracting more attention to herself.
4.) Women Dump Men More Than Men Dump Women
The search "Why she doesn't like me anymore" may surprise men who aren't aware that, statistically, women tend to give men the old heave-ho more often than the reverse. Maybe because they don't like to kiss?
